What is Glass Textolite (HGW)?

Glass Textolite (HGW) is a high-performance material produced by pressing fiberglass fabric impregnated with epoxy and phenol-formaldehyde resins. It is widely recognized for its superior electrical insulation, maintaining stability even in humid conditions up to 75%. With exceptional rigidity and hardness, it is ideal for demanding industrial applications, although it can be challenging to process using standard mechanical tools.

Applications of Glass Textolite (HGW)

Electrical Industry Applications

  • Transformers: Used for creating transformer plates due to excellent dielectric properties.
  • Electrical Panels: Perfect for manufacturing boards in electrical cabinets.
  • Electronics: Provides stable support for mounting electronic components.
  • Motors and Generators: Frequently used in DC motor rotors and generator assemblies.

Structural Applications

  • Construction: Replaces metal in applications such as window frames and bridge structures.
  • Amortization Components: Its rigidity makes it suitable for creating suspension springs for various machines.
  • Machinery Parts: Commonly used for producing wedges for shafts and similar components.

Note: Glass Textolite is not suitable for sliding applications, as it acts as an abrasive, quickly wearing down opposing materials and dulling tools.

Key Features of Glass Textolite (HGW)

Characteristics and Benefits:

  • Superior Electrical Insulation: Retains dielectric properties even in 75% humidity.
  • Exceptional Mechanical Strength: Handles variable loads and vibrations efficiently.
  • High Temperature Resistance: Performs reliably up to +155°C, with specialized grades tolerating up to +250°C.
  • Dimensional Stability: Remains unaffected by temperature or humidity changes.
  • Corrosion and Chemical Resistance: Long-lasting and resistant to most chemicals.
  • Hard and Rigid: Provides excellent stiffness for structural and electrical applications.

Glass Textolite (HGW) is an essential material for industries requiring durable, high-performance solutions for electrical and structural applications. Its reliability and long-lasting performance make it an indispensable choice for challenging environments.
